Dr. Patel grew up in the Dallas area suburb of Carrollton, where he graduated as salutatorian from Creekview High School.
He was a magna cum laude graduate in Biochemistry from Austin College in Sherman, Texas and went on to complete his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Subsequently, he completed his internship, a two-year psoriasis research fellowship, and dermatology training at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where he graduated as Chief Resident under the direction of Dr. Alan Menter.
During his dermatology training, Dr. Patel published many articles in both national and international journals and participated in many clinical research trials, predominantly in psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.
Dr. Patel also took an active interest in international volunteerism, participating in both the Passion to Heal program, a dermatology mission trip to Kenya, and as recipient of the American Academy of Dermatology international travel grant to Gabarone, Botswana to help serve the dermatologic needs of the local communities. During his Chief year, Dr. Patel helped start the dermatology division of Worth Street Clinic, a free clinic established to provide free care to those in need.
Dr. Patel has particular interest in procedural dermatology, both surgical and cosmetic dermatology. During his training he worked with national experts as a recipient of resident grants.
